The server "[Q] cs2d.EU @ Public", 77.55.106.161:36963 has bots on it, yet on the server list it says all players on it are real players and not bots.

That's a scam to lure players onto the server. It's not fair. Players will think it's a bug in the game while in reality it's intended manipulation to gain unfair advantage.

I won't tolerate this. The server's IP address has been blacklisted from the USGN server list. I'm very disappointed because the same thing already happened in 2024 with another cs2d.eu server (77.55.106.154). Please be fair and stop doing this.^

(note: if you still see the server it's probably because of the locally cached list which is in place to keep CS2D running even if the USGN is down)

Fake a real player(s) to lure people in - same cheap trick seen in CS Source lists

And for real... there are better ideas to get newcommers to your server.

Right move @user DC

massive respect for removing the server from the list. many older games which aren't policed by the devs anymore see a lot of this scummy behaviour and i'm disgusted by how low some people sink just to get a few players in their servers, even if it's detrimental to what's left of the game. thanks for not letting them treat cs2d like it's theirs.

We shouldn't be too harsh in our judgment. While what the server owner did is certainly unacceptable, and applying punishment for repeated actions is completely fair, we should also acknowledge that their intention was simply to attract players. Sometimes, setting up a server comes from a deep love for a specific game, to the point where it becomes a primary hobby. If these individuals occasionally make questionable or even misguided decisions, we should approach them with more empathy. Instead of kicking them out, we should try to guide them back on the right path with understanding.

They got blacklisted for it in the past so they should know better (also it's a clear violation of the terms of use). When the server owner promises to stop this and to not do this ever again I'm willing to remove the server from the blacklist. I'm not happy being bothered with the same kind of stuff again and again though.

I support everyone who supports the game but I don't support unfair and misleading manipulation.

Yeah I can also understand his decision about all that, would be much better if this server ever ask developer for specific manipulations with the game as for your own experience and also being helpful to find and exclude such manipulations from others. For example making that bots learning from human which makes it hard to compare with real players.
That's how I find some game mechanics and bugs using cheat engine, without DCs approve to use it on my own (new game/offline) server I could not do some foundations that may be already encrypted or changed.(some mechanics built in is not known even for DC, heh)
