Why they did that?
The reason is simple and clean. They are searching for the liberation palestine.
Also they didn't give a care when the anonymous sent warnings.
What israel did to defend it self?
Israel asked America and France for a help.

Both sides in this conflict are to some extent wrong. The Palestinian terrorists hide from missiles in crowded areas where they know they won't be shot as civilians can get hurt (human shield, basically), the Israelites are wrong because they should've achieved some sort of agreement with the Palestinians to coexist in peace. That won't happen though probably because of militant religious terrorists.
