The best solution I could think of if it has not been mentioned yet is that if you don't want your maps to be edited, simply do not upload it. Someone in this thread mentioned super armor and lasers which were added to his map. So why would you really care? People (most likely kids, in case with lasers and super armor) are just having fun with your map, then it means that they like it, isn't that what you have always wanted?
+1 for the words of wisdom, bro.
You shouldn't worry about people editing your maps. If someone re-uploads an edited version without asking your permission, simply ask them to remove it. If they have hissy fit over it, post the upload in the stolen files thread.
Now, I want to give you a BIG warning here:
Encrypting a map that is stored like CS2D's maps will cause them to be UNPLAYABLE, not just uneditable. You would have to store the key to the map inside the map, which would just be plain stupid.
THINK BEFORE YOU POST! That is how I got my 2000+ peni.. post count.
( Klin, your signature is messing with my head. )
so the release of a tool that would allow you to remove the protection from protected maps would be just a matter of time.
conclusion: I'm not going to waste my time with a map protection function which will be useless 3 days after its release. no matter how many people vote for it. sorry about that.
hint: do not create and share stuff on the internet if you are scared by the thought that someone could edit it - because it will happen.
closed.
and again in short for the dumb people: there is no way to protect your maps if you want them to be still playable
