Of course it depends if you have a gaming laptop or a poor laptop and how big the battery is, also it wont save a lot but it can save around 5 to 10 minutes of life time on 25 FPS instead of 50.
However I support the idea of giving the server and map info files a bigger toolset.
And DC cannot increase nor reduce FPS because it's how the game is made. In theory it's possible not to render every 2nd frame, but trust me, your background processes use more CPU than this kind of "improvement" will ever bring.
Anti-aliasing is already applied where needed and it'll make the text look worse.
